TOPIC: Need Help Identifing Part of a Part

Need Help Identifing Part of a Part 5 years 8 months ago #139150

I found this along with other parts that came with my recent purchase of a 1966 Sports Craft Ski King. Some guesses are from a spotlight or a flag staff. Appreciate any help..

Looks like you're version of stump the panel. Maybe from one of those hand manipulated spot lights? The hole would suggest a wire run.

I concur that it is a spot light base.
My family sold Sportcraft during that time period, and we have a 1975 230 Sportsman project (needs stringers, floor, and transom wood replacement), but nil Sportcraft items except for two bow storage upholstered curtains (a red one, and a black one) for the 14 foot Ski-Liner models.

Joe,
Thanks for the info. I have been trying to locate any current owners of a 66 Sportscraft Ski King or any of that era by that brand..but no luck. I would even like to see some photos to get an idea what the original configuration looked like.
The one I bought had extensive wood rot and the previous owner did the restoration including a completely new transom. It seems these boats did not survive or am I just not looking hard enough?
Best,
John

It’s a spotlight base, same as on my MFG. Here’s a pic of the boat you can see the light, don’t have closeups of the light itself.
The light pivots on the ball and has a knob to lock it in place. The hole is where an old phone style curly cord passes through.
I see these from time to time on eBay so suggest you look there it might take a while before one shows up so keep looking.
FYI this is not a factory part most builders bought from Atwood or Perko for hardware like this, not sure who made yours I can look at my light when I get a chance.
