TOPIC: Really need help to find a steering wheel

I really need help to find a steering wheels with a square hole to finish of my boat. If anyone have one please let me know I love to buy it. Thanks

If you really cannot find a replacement consider taking an older steering wheel to a machine shop and have them make the female to fit your steering box.
Is that a cable setup or a single push pull? I have two steering wheels complete with the cable drums.

Another option would be just replacing the entire steering system. Plenty available on eBay etc.

That "pyramid" shaped 'hub' is a '50's-'60s, maybe even '70s Mercury based RideGuide helm.
Besides using an original matching RideGuide steering wheel,...I've seen after-market hubs that fit the 'pyramid' that allow use of other steering wheels.
I believe there are (2) different model original matching RideGuide steering wheels.
I may have one of each style, both of mine are in really rough shape, but will give you an idea as to what to look for.
I'll try to take and post pictures tomorrow.

Commando, your boat is looking beautiful! I hope you get the right wheel for it. The hub you show is part of the Mercury Ride Guide system, as someone suggested earlier. They made a wooden spoked wheel. I put one of these on my Superglas pocket cruiser. They aren't easy to find but they're out there.

The nicest one (IMHO) is the one with three stainless spokes. There are (3) pictures of it.
The others are in need of a lot of love.

In April 2019 Commando (Bill Tong) agreed to purchase the steering wheel in the first (2) pictures I posted in response to his interest in finding a steering wheel with the proper hub for his early Ride Guide helm.
He sent me his mailing address and wrote that he wanted to buy it for the price I provided.
Trusting a fellow forum member,...I mailed him the hub & steering wheel.
Excuse after excuse after lie after lie, he STILL has not paid me.
I post this as a warning to other members, so they won't get ripped off by this scum bag thief.
If Ken or other monitors of these forums select to delete this warning, or if I am asked to delete it,...I will, but hopefully it stays posted long enough to expose this rat.

There are people out there who take advantage of others. When I sell anything boat related I ALWAYS use PayPal or cash in hand. This is not an endorsement but the item will never get sent unless the cash is in my account, period.
Sorry to hear of your experience. You have his mailing address and I'm quite sure there are some members here who probably live close to him and in contact. Would be another avenue to approach.

Really sorry to hear this, Doc. From his posts over the past couple years, I thought "Commando" had it together. There can't be all that much money involved, maybe $100-150 tops? That's a pretty low price to put on your reputation. I guess I just don't get it.
