TOPIC: 1970 Johnson choke and starting question

1970 Johnson choke and starting question 5 years 7 months ago #139514

Hello there! Working on an old 1970 Johnson 33EL outboard and it's got the front part of the wire harness chopped off. I do not have the choke and ignition switch panel.

I've seen plenty of newer switches with "push to choke" feautre, so is there a way to wire it upthat way since I have to put the harness back together anyway?

Also...I'd like to fire it up in a barrel soon to work out any other kinks. The transom on my boat is being repaired and I want to work forward on the motor simultaneously. How can I safely start it up to check F/N/R, as well as high and low speeds and carb adjustment?

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
