Brunswick purchased Owens Boat circa 1959. They also purchased Kiekhaefer (maker of Mercury outboard motors), Larson Boat Works, and Cutter Boats (I think Cutter was a division of Owens) in the 1959-1960 time period. Brunswick was a bowling pin setter manufacturer. They attempted to create a boat and motor empire. It failed miserably and by 1963 they got rid of all the boat operations but kept Mercury Marine. They bought Larson Boats for around $3 million in 1960 and sold it back to Paul Larson in 1963 for around $300,000 !

I thought that the Owens brothers sold out to Brunswick in 1968. At least that's the info on the old Owens Marque Club website. Brunswick finished all the unfinished boats and liquidated all their inventory. Owens was all done by 1972. My 1969 Owens Concorde 27 was one of the unfinished boats that Brunswick finished.
