TOPIC: 1959 Owen's Cabin Cruisette followed me home

1959 Owen's Cabin Cruisette followed me home 3 years 1 month ago #145716

Came across a 1959 Owen's Cabin Cruisette within reasonable driving distance and the crazy thing latched on to my rear bumper. Before I knew it the silly thing was in my driveway.

Seriously... looking to other Fiberglassics members who may own or know of these Cuddy's.

Aside from the (2) lit pieces in the FG library I've found zip about this boat.

It is the sister to the '59 Cutter Cabin Cruiser that I own.

Amazing how it just hopped right on your bumper like that. How many feet is it? And I love the vestigial fins in the fiberglass. Cool cabin layout? More pics please!

This is from the 1959 Owens folder. Not much, but there's not a lot out there. Nice find, looks like overall it's in pretty nice shape.

Sweet ride. Anything hanging on the transom?
Love the spare parts windshield. Must have had some broken glass at the shop.:woohoo:

Front windshield is designed that way.... Center windshield is hinged at the top. the bottom swings forward for ventilation.

17ft just like the Cutter Cabin Cruiser I have. These two boats are sisters. They both share the same hull.

Those are both beauties. Would be cool to see one or both in person at a show if you take them to any during the summer. The weight on that spec sheet doesn’t look too heavy for one person to launch. What outboard are you considering throwing on there? I love both colors and for sure also the fins. Glad my trailer hitch isn’t magnetic like yours lol.

The package had to have been parked on a slight downgrade slope just waiting for the right person to drive by then rolled into position. Boats are sneaky that way, we all know that.
Lucky to get that.
If you need anyone to captain it while taking out the other one let me know :)

Well... the Cutter Cabin Cruiser has a Homelite on it and I'm loving it.

As for the Owen's.... I'm not even sure that I'll hang on to it.

I just grabbed it so that it would be saved from the boneyard.

I may have it up for sale next spring.

I the meantime it is sitting in a dry building.

Ah oh... This can't be good.

I just caught myself acquiring missing parts for a restoration.

It's like an out-of-body experience.

I saw myself searching online and negotiating with the seller, but I was helpless to stop it from happening.

Last I told my wife was that I wasn't going to hang on to it... but here I am buying parts.

Is there a support group for this?
