I just ran across an webpage for the magazine "Popular Mechanics". It seems they have teamed up with Google.. and now have almost every magazine from 1907 until today... ONLINE!!!! FREE!!!
They are listed in Google-Books ( books.google.com/ )
Just do a search for "Popular Mechanics". It will bring up every issue. Then, you can search ALL the issues at the same time for "Evinrude" or "Glasspar", or even "Switzer Craft"... It will return all the magazines that even mention them in an article or an ad.
I just spent an hour perusing old mags for MFG and Fabuglas articles and ads. There's lots of articles on homemade boat building, engine troubleshooting, propeller choices, etc..

Have fun... I know I did!
