I found this one this weekend.
The owner says it is a 61.
In the library there are the models for 1961 only.
I did not find the boat there.
On the dash there is a plaque that says Scimitar. Is this the model?

Yes Ride Guide steering. Same as my Hydrocraft.
Tilting glass windshield.
No I have not bought it. The guy said make an offer.
It has not been in the water since 2000.
It is sitting on a Holesclaw trailer.
I actually went to look at a mid seventies tunnel hull that has been sitting for ages and run across this one. The guy who has the tunnel hull thinks it is made of gold. For sale for $3000. Rough shape.

Boy oh boy Mark, that is it exactly.
I am working over a lumi for a co-worker right now and a guy came walking up the sidewalk and offered me $500 for it just the way it is. I could have just sold it and made room for this one.
I also have the IMP Apache to move yet and then I will have the room. I'm thinking I will have this one, but a couple of things have to get done yet. Time, time.
I am also working on the Merc 1000 shorty and the Mark 55. I picked up a needed gasket this weekend for the 55. Mid section to lower pan. I also have to go and get the Mark 75 and Mark 78 and the parts motor. Busy. busy!
Lots of irons in the fire and still shopping for boats.
My name is Neil and I AM a glassaholic. :) :)

I haven't struck the deal yet.
Not sure about the helmet, but it may be my size!
And yes, good eye, it is sitting on a holsclaw.
I have to tidy up a few things in the boat department around the shop before I can persue this one, but, maybe!
If it doesn't work out, well, we all got a look at a dying in the weeds Pacific Mariner. :(

Neil,
Well I did put all the lower end parts in a box and put it in the shed. Things have been crazy the last couple of weeks so really haven't had time to get at it. I think I'll probably pull the powerhead and take a good look at the seals, bearings and the cylinder walls. Compressions too low so the rings are probably stuck. Still kind of hard to get motivated though. I'll get there though.

When I was disassembling my 1000, I had taken off the covers on the intake sides, and with a pencil with the lead broken off so as to not nick anything up, I moved the rings in and out and thought that they were not stuck at all. When I pulled the crank/rods/piston assembly out of the block, all of the rings were stuck on the exhaust side. That was an lesson to me. Learning all the time.
It was discussed in one of the threads here about lugging these 6 cylinder motors. They tend to coke up. I saw it first hand with my 1000.
This is probably an obvious read for the guys that have been running and maintaining these Mercs, but for me it was a great lesson. All good stuff.

Neil,
Cool thanks. I'm betting that's probably the case for mine. I'm afraid to look though considering what the lower unit looked like and that was not the original unit so………… We'll have to wait and see.

I like the hull shape better on this one you found.
Did you save her?
If not, can I persue it?

Have at it Neil! There's about 3 good ones on the road from Idaho Falls to Glacier including a gorgeous Aristocraft Funliner I/O. As I recall the PM and AFL were both reasonably close to the B-I-G lake on the way to Glacier Park. I'm sure my wife will remember the name but durned if I can! I'd rather have the Power Cat just outside of Idaho Falls I found!

I think the lines on the PM I found were too cool. Great tumble home transom.

I am no boat owner or anything, but my Grandfather in the LC valley (ID) owns a red version of this boat, and he told me that this is a 1965 Pacific Mariner Scimitar. I just became a member just so I could tell you this and also so I could hopefully find out more about that make of boat.

Nice find! I have a Pacific Mariner also. My boat model is the “Lance” I think they (Pacific Mariner) named all their models after some kind battle weapon.

I believe mine is 15’. It’s a little to small for my taste but then again the boat says I’m a too big and fat for it also. I wish it were 20’ then I would really love here.

They are really nice boat for the era. Good looking too if you ask me.

That's not fat, that a roof over the tool shed.
The '63 Dorset that that I had purchased as a doner also had an OMC, 75hp Evinrude starflyte with the ride glide steering, also had the tilting glass windshield, both are going on my Herters. Nice find for you.

Hi,
I also ran across a Pacific Mariner today. The owner said it was a 58 17'. I've not been able to find out much about the brand or model. Any info would be appreciated.
