I can understand if there's not one any more, 70's in our minds are not that calssic but to the kids around my place the 1970's were way back in the olden days. LOL

. I was going to post some more about the 1971 SeaRay-190 I am restoring here at the shop.

Some others have asked for it too. Maybe we should put it back up.

GIL: CONGRATS. Have to use my Karma of the day on your Glastron pic.! . Would that possibly be a "BARN FIND" Carlson.??
.Bring a extra flashlight with ya . .Maybe a Packard car or Duesenburg in the back of that barn .! Any old wood canoes also throw into the Glastron .
.. How about a few more pics coming out into the daylight .??
. Again, Great SCORE.

Yes, I vote we put up a 70's section.
Many of us up here, like Heather, now own 70's boats.
It is fun to see the transition in the rounded styling from the fifties transition to the more angular styling of the 60s/70s.
Also, the modified V hull with some deadrise appeared.
Plus some of the manufacturers that survived the 60's continued production into the 70's, so it is fun to see the legacy that started in the 50's continue. And I have a ton of brochures to share...........

Heather is working on some nice classic Sea Ray treasures down south, fun to see all those too as her renovation methods apply to any year of Glassic. And she has great videos to share.....

My GlasPly is a classic, built in 1979. Some insurance companies consider her a classic they won't write a policy!
She is essentially the Skagit of the 70's up here, with hell for stout construction, designed for NW and AK waters just like your Fiberglassics Skagit 20.

If a 70's forum comes up, I have a Glastron with a 130 Merc 1400 I got for $25 (with trailer) I'd like to show off. It's in the before stage but a great boat.

I would also like to see the 70's forum back, just bought a 1973 Glastron V178 Starflite. I don't have any pics yet, just got it unstuck out of the yard and moved into the garage to check everything out. Pretty neat old boat, in my opinion. Got some good lines, and an interesting hull design. The rain just keeps coming down here in the south, bet Heather's driveway is really a mess now. Awesome Youtube videos lady, keep 'em coming please. ;) Mark

I agree, a 70's forum would be nice. I grew up skiing behind Glastrons and had a '68 Skiflite V142 for 20 years. I have a friend in Fla. that still owns the GT160 that his mother bought new and we skied behind in high school in the '70's. (Looks just like the one in the picture above). I also currently have a 1975 Hydrostream which IMO is one of the most unusual pieces of fiberglass ever made.

Yeah, I'd like to see the 70's forum come back too. I love the 70's Glastrons and have a '71 Newman.

Some people are like slinkies... Not much good for anything, but they sure are fun to push down the stairs.

70's are cool, some anyhow. Glastron's are one of the better brands in that decade imo. Mike

I think the amount of responses in this thread speaks for itself. If you build it they will come.

Most of my stuff is 1970s era and that's where my main interest is. Always liked the looks of the '70s boats. Much less generic then, but much more refined than the earlier stuff.
