Well... after having the boat for 7 months or so and 'researching' how best to tackle a fiberglass boat... I'm finally getting started on my 1960 Lake N Sea on a similar vintage tee-nee trailer...

So as per my previous posts on this forum... the ol' beauty is suffering from a botched transom... so time to fix things right...

first order of business... splitting it! and good thing too.. the dirt and grime up under the rubrails has built up over the years...

Notice the screws holding the rub rails on... nice chrome plated? brass machine screws, counter sunk... with mini acorn nuts... nice hardware... I'm saving them for reference at least... reuse at most... and I'm taking loads of pictures too... for reference and sharing if desired...

Anyways... I will update from time to time... I'm done dreaming about it... time to work on it!

I can't tell from the pic, but if those are locknuts, replace them. Any other hardware should be fine. Looks like a neat project!

Retro 54,Rick here. I got all new stainless steel Flat
head 6mm screws and matching acorn nuts with plastic lock
nut incerts at Lowes. I used very fine wet and dry sandpaper
then buffed the rub rails with fine compound. They came out great.

Enjoy the ride!!

Awesome Rick!.. thank you very much for the info... I really appreciate it.

If you don't mind, I have a question... Was your Lake N sea top and bottom halves "glued together" with what looks like dried out gray marine caulk? I'm going to have to take my time with mine to make sure I don't break off the hat sections at the deck edge... I'm going to work at one spot, and get an opening and then it looks like I will have to hacksaw it carefully... haha.. the adventure awaits!

Retro54, I didn,t split my boat. I only saw staples every inch
when I took rub rails off.In 59 maybe they stapled and glued.

that's as close as I can narrow the year down to 59 or 60 tag with the model number is gone
