TOPIC: New to Fiberglassics, and starting a restoration

I've been watching this site for a couple of months now, since I acquired a 1965 Glasspar Gold Cup. While I was looking for parts and advice that may have been posted here and elsewhere, I ran across another classic, a 1963 Uniflite. Even though they are both small boats (14 foot), I unfortunately don't have room to keep both of them. If anyone is interested, the Glasspar is up for sale, and the Uniflite is the one I've decided to keep. Since I didn't get any title for the Glasspar or it's trailer, it is going to go cheep. The Uniflite will be posted on another site as it is being restored, and I will keep a running update on here, if anyone might be interested in watching a little boat get new life bestowed on it....

Been a little while since I got to post anything, but I got the old Uniflite bathed to get a better look at her. The seats are shot, the cables are entirely seized, and neither the main nor the kicker want to rotate. Good news is that there is no major glass work needed! The floor needs to be replaced, but compared to what I could have been facing, that's minor. The kicker has been soaking in oil for a couple of days, and now it will rotate. Should be just a matter of cleaning off the oil, checking out the water pump, and giving it a basic tune-up before test firing it. Got the control box out, and everything looks good there, just needs a fresh paint job and a new decal. Cables are completely gone, no hope there. Now, on to the big motor. Just wish I could actually read the model number off the plate, would make things so much easier if I knew exactly what I was dealing with.... Anyways, here come some more pics...

now, on to the fun stuff....

Got into the top of the motor, and it's looking good! Wiring still has to be done, but the engine will turn over by hand, with valves opening and closing, and prop spinning! Had a couple of fasteners break on me in the process, but they are easier to replace than engine internals. Nest step will be to open up the water pump and replace the impeller. While I'm down there, I'll probably change the lower end lube. Any pointers about anything I'm missing to have her on the water this summer?
