FiberGlassics doesn't have nationals, we don't have meets... local groups have meets but nothing is in the name of FiberGlassics.

FiberGlassics is a website.

I'd assume that during a meet, one might say to go to FiberGlassics, or it's a great place to visit, etc.

But, we do not sponsor meets, hold meets, nada.

One thing goes wrong and someone that spilled their hot coffee decides to sue me... bye bye website.

Bye Bye website?
Bye Bye house is more like it.

Isn't that sad? But it's so true.

Lots of activity on the Fiber Glass National Meet front of late isn't there?

There's been an announcement on another network that the first ever Classic Fiberglass Nationals will be held in Beloit WI on August 14th.

National events would seem to call for an effort to go beyond static displays surrounded by folding chairs. The Nationals I've been a part of included interactive sessions in which participants learn how to do the type of work needed to complete a project. In this case skills in stringer replacement, transoms, gelcoat, upholstery and the like would be great to teach. If the various organizations that are putting on National events go that route they will be a boon for our avocation and should be encouraged no matter what they're called.

Why not lump the event in with the AOMCI Tomahawk Nationals from August 4-7th in Tomahawk, WI? There's going to be a gazillion old outboard people and boats there and would help bring more exposure to the Fiberglass marketplace.

I wouldn't think that's the place to hold a national.
It's not central to most people and while there is water it's not as conducive to these types of boats as would be - say - something around Lake of the Ozarks.

I'd also suggest consulting the AOMCI as their space ghets quite full with their own participants.

Peter,

You are probably right. I was just tossing out an idea.

The Lake of the Ozarks would be great depending on the fingers where the event would be held. I personally wouldn't want to be in the main channel with a small (14-15') boat and motor.

If ya wanna be all fair about it, Waconda Lake in KS is about the closest boating lake to the geographic center of the contiguous U.S. It's said to be one of the best fishing lakes in KS, and looks like a cool place.

Anybody here from KS want to organize a national event? :)

I'll start off - I can't afford to go!

Hello Ben:

Thanks for the notice.

The Silver Lake meet is Fiberclassics biggest event, their "nationals".

It's to far for me this year but someday maybe.

T hope you will consider taking pictures and posting them here in our Featured Event Coverage forum or the Glasspar forum.

Ron - Not sure if you're misspelling or what. This is Fiberglassics, not Fiberclassics. Fiberglassics is copyrighted. Kelly says no to using the phrase Fiberglassics, I suggest folks listen. Link Fiberglassics to an event, and liability is there. Sad, yes, but true. And that's the way it is. The other group hosting the Beloit show has held it for a number of years under other auspices. There are some really nice boats at that show.

I believe the proverbial pot is being stirred. There are no fiberGLASSICS nationals, and based on the reply by Kelly above, there will not be now, or in the future. If Ron feels the urge to have a boat meet, he can do so, but it will not sport the name FiberGLASSICS in any way shape or form. Doing so is a copyright violation plain and simple.

I suppose Ron will have to fight with the FiberClassics people located over at www.fiberclassicboat.com . They own the FiberClassic name and I bet they love it being tossed around supporting their boat sales....lol. :P Nothing like a free plug.

Just look at the latest ACBS Directory. The back cover advertises the Lake Tahoe show featuring the marque class of Classic FiberGlass to 1964! I actually received a written invitation to bring the 1961 Power Cat 18DC to the show. Right...a 6500 mile pull. Lots of shows are ramping up on glass now. It's a new age.

If anyone reading this is now confused, here's why.

The original title of this topic was FiberGlassics Nationals. It was changed to fiberclassic nationals which is why it might read a little weird to ya.

Onward.

Looks like the name of the post was changed at the top, but the individual post reply headers all have the original post title on them.

Who would want to stir the pot around here?

Just so we are all clear, the host of the show NEVER referred to it as the FiberGlassics® Nationals, This was found on another message board that will remain unnamed.

This meet is officially put on by the Finger Lakes Chapter of AOMCI and is known as the Silver Lake Spring Dust Off.

It is the UN official meet of the old FGNE.
