So this spring while I was over in MT I came across an old inboard sitting out in a field. Looking at it that day I could see at one time there were emblems on it and the gel coat was faded out but I thought it said Skagit. My brother-in law has a 59 Skagit Ski master so I had him measure it and this boat is the same dimensions. I ended up getting it (for free) and after getting it home found some old registrations in it that said it is a 60 Skagit. Everything I have been able to find on-line only shows outboards in the smaller boats. Not really sure how many of these were ever made but I think it is a really cool find. The plan is to start the complete restoration project on this including rebuilding the Ford I-6 Interceptor engine, the boat is fairly complete but I will be looking for a lot of little odds and ends.

I know of a couple Skagit inboards here in Skagit county Washington. One has had an extensive redo with a 351 Ford engine. Another sits in a barn not for sale. The rumer is that Skagit Plastics made some and took them to Lake Tahoe to try to sell them. I have the Skimaster with outboard and it is a great boat. Yours is the first one I know of with an I-line 6. Contact Bill R who advertises Homelite parts as he is the authority on Skagits. Clint

Some people are like slinkies... Not much good for anything, but they sure are fun to push down the stairs.

I just logged in specifically to recommend you get in touch with Marty Loken, but see Marty replied to your post. Marty has a lot of info on Skagit, and is also a master restorer/builder. Nice to see him visit the board!

janck,
Do you have any pics of the motor? Do you know what marine convesion it is? Is it a flywheel forward?

My 64 Correct Craft has an Interceptor/Ford 177 six banger. Heres a pic of mine...

Just fyi, here are some additional photos of our 1958 17-foot Skagit inboard, powered by a Gray Marine (AMC) 327 V-8. The engine was used in a number of boats in the late 1950's and early 1960's, including Century mahogany inboard runabouts.
