TOPIC: Show Me Your Boat Interior

Show Me Your Boat Interior 14 years 7 months ago #6710

While I am starting the restoration of my Fiberglide (transom and seats) I am also collecting ideas of how to finish up the boat’s interior once she is in the water again.

I have notice that most restored runabouts still have their interior walls exposed (painted fiberglass) but it seems that some folks have installed interior side panels. Some seem to be varnished wood and some upholstered. However none of the pictures I have found show the interiors clearly. :(

I was hoping that everyone with an open cabin runabout that has a non-stock interior would proudly show us their handi-work.

There's not much of my handy work on this one. This is the original interior on my 64 Aqua Ray. The seats are foam on a sprung wood frame. The dash is upholstered (or padded). The floor has a vinyl sheet covering. I can give you more pictures or details if you like. Right now the seats, etc are removed and I am replacing part of the floor.

I used the original side panels as templates and used exterior 5/16 ply and glued 5/16" cherry on top, routed and varnished. Custom seats and splash well cover, Mike PS....MAYBE too many pics huh?, LOL

This is the interior of the 1958 Crosby Capri. I was able to find, thanks to this site, photos of the original 58 Capri interior, and brought it to the upholstery shop and told them to "make it look like this". You can see the original in the FG Crosby section.

This is the 1967 Hydrodyne Speed V 1750 I did. Pretty much stock interior, but I upgraded the seats to top of the line Garelick. man they were comfortable!

1966 MFG Side Panels. This boat had no side panels when new.

Yes Bigfoot, you are correct.
Although I don't think I could achieve the level of craftsmanship you have, it is a great goal to shoot for.

Many thanks

GD...

That is exactly what I was hoping for. Great job. :)

My boat has no interior side panels and what you have done is what I was thinking of.

Again, thanks.

my interior for the 64 custom craft sunray is all in pieces,im still making them,i used the old ones to make patterens, except for the console,i bought it and painted and upholstered it.the original seats were totaled,so we had to get new ones, and got matching yinyl,to make the rest of the interior.next i have to take out some some small wrinkles in the splashwell cover.
