The RideGuide cable on the 18DC has a notched end to it. Most cables I've seen have a hole through it which you pass a bolt or connecting rod to the motor. Anyone have a photo of how this style end connects up? Believe this was set up for early twin Mercs when new based on tank connectors, etc. I found in the boat. I've got to figure out how to connect this to either one of the motors or to the connecting rod between them. No photo available as we are in the Hamptons for the long weekend. Alternative is to swap out the cable with a new one I bought that's longer and can hit the port engine.

Brian,

Visualize a clamshell - like 2 pt. brass fitting that had a rigde machined in each half. The 2 halves clamped over the end and the internal rib held the end captive while allowing it to rotate on axis so the cable would not strain or bind upon motor tilt. The tail ends of 2 halves had a teardrop shape to them and were drilled for the link arm. was actually a better design than the Telexlex style you are used to seeing. These show up here & there - you may want to locate a Ride Guide part number to help. worst case - one could be machined out of brass.

Brian, if MP doesn't have the fitting I'm pretty sure Joe Poole Jr. would. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Wow! It all makes sense now! With that piece I can connect directly to the plate on the stbd motor and use the cable connected to the RideGuide wheel. Just need to work out where to install the transom connection, which is not a big deal. This is too easy! What the devil would we do without Fiberglassics? Seriously, thanks Kelly and Sandi yet again. And, thanks Madprops! I owe you one. I have never seen one of those connectors, but again, have never been a Mercury guy. The 1350 is the first Merc I've owned. Go big or stay home they say.

Happy in the Hamptons, dahling (if it wasn't for my MIL I'd never be seen here, not my type of place, but it was a package deal...wife and everything that came with it).

Yes sir! I have the balance of the hardware. It was that pesky cable end that was driving me nuts trying to figure out how to connect it. The transom mount hardware came off Manta Ray #2. Let it be a lesson to all to pay more attention to tear down. There's a lot of information to be had there.

Again, thanks to all.
