TOPIC: How to convert a Jewel into Junk

How to convert a Jewel into Junk 14 years 10 months ago #825

I was excited to go look at a BellBoy that a guy contacted me about last week. He said "it has big fins" so I was hoping to to go see a Banshee. Turns out that it was indeed a Banshee, probably a '58, in red & white even yet. One small problem, All of the aluminum trim and hardware had been removed and taken in for scrap. Nothing like taking an $ 800.00 boat and turning it into 10 bucks of aluminum. Maybe they bought a 12 pack of cheap beer with the money. It appears the boat was complete & undamaged before it was canabalized. This is what happens when prople don't respect or recognize the value of something. I'll just keep trying to find them before this happens.......

The poor Bellboy! Such a cool boat, I am not sure why they have been neglected.

Sad. I have no idea if the Al would be available, either as old parts or reproductions. Would it be possible to customize it and still make it a cool boat, if restoration is out of the question? A good artist could paint a look alike of the castings on the fins.

If not, it could make a cool chop shop project. Jet boat? Santa's sleigh? Dune buggy body?

Aluminum or not I would LOVE to have that boat. Cool is as cool does as my long lost step brother Forest Dump used to say. lol And those fins are cool. I wouldn't kick it out of my garage! As usual though... too far away for me. :(

Some people are like slinkies... Not much good for anything, but they sure are fun to push down the stairs.

come & get it doug - it's FREE! My yard is full. I still have the 7 boat stash to go uncover this spring. I've got them coming out my ears lately, and COOL ones too.

I wish... You'd be suprised at how far I've driven for a "free" boat! lol
