TOPIC: 1966 Thunderbird 17'

1966 Thunderbird 17' 9 years 8 months ago #107469

I just got this boat from a friend who inherited it from his uncle in Florida. It's in pretty rough shape but my buddy and I figured it wouldn't be to hard to restore given the basic design. The transom is toasted and so are the stringers. We plan on separating the top from the bottom to gain access to the transom and to lay new glass in. We are also restoring the 1972 Mercury 800 that was on it. It runs great but the manifolds were corroded. Luckily we found some parts from around the country so far. If anyone has any pointer or whereabouts on parts for this boat ie windshields, please let me know. Otherwise enjoy the pictures of the restoration process!

Pictures coming soon. Photos are "too big" from my phone. Right now the boat has been gutted and we are separating the top from the bottom on friday. Motor is torn down and parts are ordered up. Should be fun! What color should I choose?! Thinking white over blue. Thoughts?!?

Anyone having problems uploading pictures from iPad? It keeps saying my photos are too big but I can't change the size?

I just use photobucket, it's way easier than resizing
