TOPIC: 1980 Glastron GT-150 with 1977 115 Johnson

Finally went and picked up my new "winter project" yesterday. Small issue with the key and some of the hull hardware, but made it home with no incident. Going to try to work on the 1968 Lone Star Mustang this summer and put her away until fall when 63Sabre and I will pop the top and redo the transom, floor, stringers, and whatever else we find. Hopefully finished up and ready to roll for next season, but I might cheat and drop it in the water this year to see if everything works!!

This was from his ad. The shot of the same model making the jump in Live and Let Die sold me on wanting to bring it home and give it some love. Bond made the jump with a 135 hp on it, I wonder what it will do with a 150 tower of power???

I think it needs a Merc 1500 on the back of it!! Guess that is what they were going for when they painted the Johnyrude black.



Safe and sound at home. Still need to make room for it in the garage. Going to take some serious shuffling stuff around and shoehorning!! Cal - you might have been right about the storage shed!! I will have to take some before and after shots of the garage. Not sure if there is room for the van right now.

Glad you made it home safe. Take advantage of this weather and get on the water.

Just gave the Mustang her first splash this past weekend. Started and ran like a top with just little rough running. Needs a carb cleaning and sea foam in the gas. Need to get you over for a high level consultation on all the projects. Wait till you see all the stuff I have been buying lately!! Kind of addicted to marine auctions....

I "restored" a GT-150 back in 2004. Naturally, I loaded it up with mahogany.

Mahvelous as usual Jan. Mark, copy a picture of that and archive it for further reference.

Glad the trip was uneventful! That's going to be a fun project.

Cal - here is another one to reference. Seats are cool, but how do you source them? Makes more sense to have the back-to-back seats instead of what looked like a bench seat in the back of the boat.

Bet that will fly!! You will have to let me know how it works and your performance with it. I am thinking with the 115 on it should hit 50+, so I wonder what a 150 will do

I would appreciate you sending or posting some additional interior and exterior pictures of your GT so that I can use them for reference during the restoration. I am really liking the original seats and will need to figure out how to source or build them. I also need to find some more pictures of how they came out of the factory so I can determine if I want to restore to the original look or do something a little different.

I will take all the input and assistance I can get on the new project - especially if a bunch of you have been down this road before. It will definitely be a cap off / floor off restoration, so I have a lot of work in front of both Cal and me. I will need to make sure the fridge is stocked with his favorite beer and pizza!!

That boat in Sacramento is a nice boat. I have met the owner and have seen the boat up close at one of our club delta runs.
