TOPIC: 1964 Eliminator project

Some progress of the Eliminator by International I've been working on last couple years. All new wood through the boat , transom , floor ,seat mounts and inner bracing . Boat will be powered by a 100hp 6cyl Mercury. Boat will be painted with gold flake and white accents as original

Very nice! What was used for the finish? Marine paint, automotive paint, gelcoat?

The original gelcoat finish was knocked down with a DA with 120 grit then sprayed with epoxy primer, it was then wet sanded with 220 and sprayed with shopline JP2 finish primer wet sanded again with 220 reshot with another coat of JP2 and wet sanded with 400 then topped with PPG automotive paint and flake then topped with several coats of clear to even paint and flake heights .

From everything we researched there was only a small chance of automotive clear “fogging” if docked in the water for an extended period of time (days to weeks) but would eventually regain its clear .This boat will not be docked for any long periods so we should be OK

It has to be docked long enough in the bright sun to soak up all the oooooo's and aaaaaaahhhhhhhs. Or just hang out at the launch ramp like Joe Cool.

it will get docked for sure , it’s a shallow V almost flat bottom so when it gets choppy we dock till it calms down then head back out till dusk

Edited to clarify the primer used is JP202 not JP2

Thought that was sorta funny, using jet fuel
