If you have a local chapter of the Antique Outbard Motor Club, often these guys are glad to help out in troubleshooting or fixing an old Merc or other old crock. I attended a meeting last night with very experienced professional and amateur mechanics helping out with advice and support to new enthusiasts who had brought in their problem motors.
