I refurbished this 500 almost 3 years ago. Just got it and the boat out for the first time. Rand sweet without a touch. I am a happy camper.

Is that a mark 58a? My dad bought one brand new so that is what I grew up with. It was a screamer and was very dependable.

No it is a '61 500 50 hp. last of the line before jet props. They do look a lot alike though. I almost snagged a MK58 last year

In my humble opinion they are the prettiest motors EVER and I really, really want one for my G-3 project. Is there a good site where I can do a little research ? Thanks, Mark.

I have twins on my Priwing. your G3 will run about 37MPH with a 500 on it.

How many HP for 60 plus ? Is there a white 100 ?

The first 100 HP was a '62 1000, and are Phantom Black.
Having said that, I just happen to know that there is a Cloud White 1000 out there zooming around on Pete's Rascal.   doc Frankenmerc

Those years 6's are soooo good looking. I just don't have a boat for one or I would give it a go too. and no, I just can't fit in a 4th boat.

Nothing like showing that G-3 with a white Merc to torture a guy. That's a beautiful pair and although it hurts to look at yours and then look at mine it's something to aspire to. Thanks for the pics and the pain. LOL.
