TOPIC: 1962 lower unit drain

1962 lower unit drain 6 years 1 month ago #137917

I have a 1962 70 HP white mercury with full shift. The oil drain holes in the lower unit are not low enough to drain. Short of pull the leg off is there a way to drain or pump the oil and potential water out of the the lower unit gear case?

Dave,
Thank you for the reply. That is what I did last year and it seemed to work. I was just hoping that there was a pump that screwed into one of the holes..wishful thinking.

Thanks again.

make e fitting take a 3//8 coarse thread bolt and drill it in the center and adapt to a hose to your pump aluminum bolt is easier to work with.
