I have a line on a Mark 55 from a guy who had it completely restored two years ago. The story is he had it restored for a boat and ran it a few times in the summer but wanted more power and upgraded. When fall came he put the Mark 55 in a store 'n lock and hasn't touched it since. It's gone through two winters in mid Michigan.

Here's my question, he said it's at the back of the store n lock and he won't pull it out unless I agree to buy it ahead of time. Assuming everything looks newish/clean under the hood, what's the probability nothings cracked? Other than a compression test and lower unit eye-over, is there anything else I should look out for?

I've had a few of those deals where they want you to agree to buy it. I'd take a chance on it but it would be for alot less than what they're asking for it. I live in Nebraska and it gets pretty cold here. Of the 100+ old motors I have, 3 have cracked lowers(Mercs), but they had sat outside for years. Good luck!!

All depends on price, What type of restoration quick go over, or 100% tear down & re build with all OEM parts ? New paint? If seller has demands make some of your own also. The Wolverine Chapter of AOMCI has a meet coming up on Dec 1 if your not doing anything check it out. aomci.org/event/wolverine-chapter-annual-bathrick-marine-dry-meet-swap-meet/ I'll be there making the trek from across state in Novi.
