Got a question... which 4 cylinder mercury from 1958 to 1964 had the following badging on the lower unit

"Powered by the famous Thunderbolt Engine"

and

"Dyna-Float" cast into the lower unit shock-absorber.

I am looking at some pictures in an edvertisment, but they do not show the front of the cowl. the motor is painted black, but I believe this to be the typical black re-paint..

any information and ideas are most welcome. Thank you.

The Thunderbolt was the 40-cubic inch powerhead, which came in 35 and 40 horsepower flavors, and was known successively as the Mark 55, Mark 35A, and Merc 300. The Mark 55 would have the turtle-top top cowling (rounded). The Mark 35A and Merc 300 would have the squared top cowling.

Not to be confused with the Super Thunderbolt 45-cubic inch powerhead, which powered the 45 and 50hp models...
