IT FITS!

I am not 100% sure exactly why but everything bolted up using the lower isolators from the newer motor. merc # 75299

For the doubters;

Special thanks to Dr. Frankenmerc for doing the initial investigation and encouraging me to do this!

Can of worms is cracked open, upper gasket set is en-route and I am basically going to do a re-seal job on this motor. Plus the mariner trim unit is obviously grey and needs some black paint.

Jim, I am crossing my fingers that the bushings that I have are not some sort of fluke. If you do order them, take a look at the end and see if the bolt hole is off center. If it appears to be perfectly centered then it *may* not work.

Dr. frankemerc had a thread about this that is now in the archives that I was posting in that has more good info on the topic.

Thanks again for the phone call yesterday, I am happy to know that this motor will be done right and be reliable.

I know it is early, and my eyes are still blurry, but is that an OMC PT/T unit? It sure looks like one.
Inquiring minds what to know.

lar, that trim and tilt unit is from a mid 80s (I think) mariner 1xx horsepower tower of power.

I have the serial number from the original motor if someone cares to look it up.

Thats a later 60's like 65 or 66 Merc 90 based on decals. The trouble is with the 64 and older inline 6's matching up.

Randy, it didn't fit without using the other isolators. Everything fit just like Dr. frankenmerc's photos that are in the archives. Off by 3/16 or so.
