That would be great Jim, 'cause I'd rather not spend $150 if I don't have to...

New Old Stock Mercury Quicksilver Instrument "Square Face" 1970's Vintage Water Pressure Gauge Kit

New Old Stock Mercury Quicksilver "Square Face" 1970's Vintage Water Pressure Gauge Kit @ $149.99

Outstanding condition

Includes 20' rubber hose, engine connection hardware, light bulb & socket, mounting bracket, and fasteners

Plus, sort of looking for '60's anyway.

BTW, already checked with Tim C and Laing's, Thanks...

well.......they are NOS (3 in all) but they are Power Trim Gauges! DOH!!!!!
I do have 1 or 2 of the vintage H20 pressure gauges I know that for a fact but now I have to go on the hunt for them.
I humbly apologize for my senior moment.

Jim are you the one selling them on ebay? Could you learn me how those trim indicators work? Is there a sensor that attaches to one of the 2 pistons on the motor?

gnaw got nuthin on ebay......these are late 60's vintage gauges I would assume they tie into the blue wires of the harness that tie into the wires off the bracket. I will look at a manual later.

Hey if Jim finds the gauges buy one. The one he shows is 70's vintage which is what you found for 150.00
You are VERY wise to use a W.P. gauge. I run them on all my motors.
If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, new ones can be found for 50.00 or so. What I do is use a single gauge mount bracket, basicly a sheetmetal piece with a hole for the gauge and a flange bent for mounting, like you sould see in a old hot rod. Available in black or chrome everywhere. Just screw the bracket onto the underside of the dash edge so gauge hangs down, over by the corner of the dash so you can quick glance down. This eliminates any holes in the boat and it can be quick moved up under the dash to hide it when at a show.
You will be very disapointed if you drill a gauge hole if you find a correct 60's vintage one (very rare and hard to find) and the gauge fails in years to come. Winter storage is particularly hard on them, I remove an store indoors for storage.
In the event of failure, your most likely option would be a new one that would be far more visible if mounted in a hole in the dash.
I run a minimum of vintage instrumentation because of the risk of failure and not being able to find a period replacement, empty holes/new instruments or ones that don't work kind mess up an otherwise vintage dash. So I go stealth with new when needed. I set up props with a hand held tach, use my GPS hand held for speed so I bypass tachs and speedos and use the new W.P. mounted as mentioned, like religion, to keep an eye on motor cooling.
You will find many options for W.P. gauges going new. Preferably 0 to 15 psi but 0 to 30 will work OK too.
My two cents.

Hi Randy: Could you tell us about your hand held tach. What doses it look like (photo if possible)? How doses it hook up to your motor? What brand name? I would like to do the same thing you are doing with props.

Hi Greg,
I don't know what you have for a motor.
I run 6 cyl Mercs only so on the dual point motors I just use a cheap old 4 cycle tach set for a 6 cyl and connect it to only one coil, that reads correct RPM.
For the thunderbolt ignition motors I have a used Merc tach with a pig tail that plugs into the control box. Both my tachs are "dash mount" but I "hold them in my hand" and have long enough pig tails to run the connections where needed.
So the easy answer is to find the tach that works with your motor wire it up with pigtails and then hold it in your hand! Now you don't have ot worry about cosmetics or vintage correctness as they won't stay in the boat.
Good luck!

I have vintage spedo. and tach. and an extra hole in the dash that I'd like to fill with the water pressure gauge.

I will store inside as you say to prevent damage. A friend of mine restores gauges, so I could restore a non-working one if necessary and install new guts.

I think my tach. is set up for 3 cyl. and only hooked up to one coil.

I run inline 6's too.

I have a Mercury square faced 15 PSI water pressure gauge that does not work, but can be used as a filler in the instrument panel. After going through two of Mercury's water pressure gauges, I went with Livorsi Marine Inc, which looks similiar to the Mercury.

See if that link works guys. (Not a bad price for NOS?) The 15psi gauges are all but extinct, but there are some 30psi gauges left out there. (I work in the parts business, the aftermarket even went to 30psi.) Being "budget challenged" and more concerned with accuracy and longevity, I went with the current instrumentation.

That one's nice, but looking for the more rounded, more retro style.

Got another guy local here I can check.

If no luck there, thinking about copying the face plate and retro-styling a newer one.

Wonder where I could get a scan of a retro style round faceplate?
