I bet he would deal, not too many people will just hand over .5k for an old 35 hp merc not running.

I had a very nice original 400EL that I freshen'd up, and rebuilt the lower unit. Got $750 on ebay before the economy went South, and though I did well. Got all my money back from the rebuild so I was happy.

Now a days you can sink some money into them and not be able to recoup your investment in parts, unless it is a hot item motor.


His $1400 ebay quote might have been for an H model.

I would agree that he could be comparing with an H.
I have been e-mailing him over the weekend and he is willing to do some trading. He stated that he had just bought a new boat and he was wanting a wakeboard and a wakeboard rope.
We will see, time fwill knock a chunk off that price also.
