I ran one of those for quite a few years. Its a great little motor. My dad bought one new and that is what we had on the back of our 15 ft. runabout that we all grew up in. We ran it until about 1980 when it threw a rod through the side of the block. That might have been the result of cranking it out to about 6100 RPM when ever we could. We had alot of fun over the years.

It does have a dent. I will take a picture of it and put it on here so you can see what you think. I seem to be running across these "small block" Mercs, so it should not be hard to find you a good wrap. I am trying to get one of each in the Mark lineup. I am working on a trade deal for a 35A right now. There is also here in my hometown a 55A that can be had. But it is attached to a boat for $500, and I don't need this particular boat.
As you may be following, I was in your neck of the woods this past weekend. I finally got my G3. It is far from perfect, but it is a good hull. A good home for my 115. And the plans are still to run the 1000 shorty on the Hydrocraft. If all goes according to plans, I should get all of this done by the time I am 112 years old.

Haaa-haaa-haaaa! Too true! I have the same issue,...Too many projects with too many dream results.
I probably could be the owner one of those fancy Donzi dual 502 super boats if I had spent all my money on one thing.

Well,...Maybe I could at least own the trailer required for a Donzi.

So true, a nickel here, a dime there, pretty soon a guy could have bought a big powerboat. I have always wanted a Scarab. Big Blocks, chopper props, loud, gas guzzler, haul the mail kinda cool. Maybe when I am 113!!!!!!!!
The wrap on the 58A has a dent in the front with a pretty good crease in it. I was going to take a picture, but it is too far gone to make me feel comfortable gifting it to you. But I will keep an eye out for a good one for you.

Yeah Thom, but you notice in the Scream and Fly photo nobody is running their boats...at least we can have some fun on 5 gallons of gas.

And even at the price of gas these days, we can have a WHOLE lot of fun with our old inlines and probably still not spend as much as they do on their monthly loan payments.
I've probably got less in my G3 that they spent on a prop.
Would still be very cool though. SIGH

Makes a guy wonder what those boats will look like when they are 50 and 60 years old.
