went to check why my 1966 merc has no spark. i was told that by the person i got it from. and the starter bendix was frooze to the end of the armature and was engaged into the flywheel, so i guess he spun the windings out of the starter, if it was engaged with the motor running. so now i need a starter to futher investagate the no spark cond. i did try to jump the starter at the case and power stud, no luck. anybody have a good one that they would sell? let me know what #'s off of mine that you will need . thanks frog

Frog, if you'll get me the numbers off yours I can check on it Tuesday. (I'm off work until then, gonna try to get some progress going on my project boat!)

Take the starter apart and check on why it's wonky... It's already broke - worst you can do is break it more...

thanks mark, i'll get out to the garage next week and get the numbers off of it. this week was spent at the doctors office and hospital. next week will be better. lol thanks again frog matt , do you have any idea what a rebuild would run? should be brushes , bushings and maybe armiture. thanks, frog. chinewalker, yes i could tear it apart but i don't have the parts to fix with and would like just see if this motor is in better cond than my merc 800, or maybe there are both parts donors. now that is a thought.lol thanks again to all for the help greg (frog)
