TOPIC: Have you ever seen one of these?

Have you ever seen one of these? 14 years 8 months ago #3965

Hello everyone
Today I had the good pleasure of meeting a fellow local boat enthusiast.
He showed me a 115 merc he had in his collection of parts for sale.
Now I had never seen one of these prop locks before. He said he did not have a key for it, nor did the prior owner of the motor. Any chance someone here recognizes it, knows who manufactured them and could potentially help in finding a key or a way to remove the lock without messing things up?

regards
and as always, thanks in advance

I have a couple of them out on the shelve , bought them whe I first bought my stainless props and there werent as many around as there is now . take a screw driver and unscrew the slotted cap , under that cvap is a stainless screw that you need a key like a mag wheel lock to unscrew ten the outer tapered cap pulls off and there a nut , maybe 15/16 that unscrews and off comes your prop ....if you dont have the key you could weld something to the "lock screw" or maybe turn it with a chisel or reach in with a dremel and cut a slot for a screwdriver BUT ! remember its a left hand thread on the stainless lock screw !

Thanks for the info, and yes, I would like to see some break-down pictures.
The information will be forwarded to the guy who owns the motor.
He asked me if I knew how to get it off. I said no, but know guys that do!

kingdve, I'll post the link to a thread in the support forum that I think you will find most helpful. We've all (well, many of us) had this problem, don't feel like the Lone Ranger. ;)
