GANG,: I am working on about four combo's of mid 60's era Merc four cyl motors & control boxes.. Most came without keys & oldest box had frozen switch... I know new replacements are the way to go , & had
gotten one for $24 with the PUSH to choke feature ,, as some of the Merc topside choke rubber button can also harden over years.

The three digit security code for merc is usually on the INSIDE of the box, plastic decal about # 101 - 133. Helps a dealer find you a key , HOWEVER the plastic channel can get deformed over years , or a Prior Owner try a small screwdriver in there.!!... Yesterday I got a
shift box via E-bay seller, BUT NO key that was shown in ad pic.
.HOWEVER today learned (or got Lucky) trying other key #'s if one inserts the key 3/4 into the channel ,good chance it will TURN the switch,, as those plastic grooves wear over time..Actually the key worked BOTH sides in this box....Just a comment trick to double try
for this hobby.
