TOPIC: Serial Number

Serial Number 12 years 2 months ago #69512

My first Merc is a '72 800. I was just looking for the serial number and have not spotted it yet. I have been told it is on the top of the transom mount, but am still not seeing it. Anyone got a picture to give me a clue?

It came from the factory with the serial number in two places - one on the tag on the clamp brackets, and the other stamped in the cylinder block. The serial block number is STAMPED and will be seven digits. It is NOT cast in - those are casting numbers, evident on most part castings and have nothing to do with the serial number.
