I got my motor started and it runs great until it warms up then it pops , runs at lower idle and kinda rough, then stalls. When i try to start it again it takes a while with more popping and it doesn't really fully start.

I'm leaning towards the ignition coil and want to test it.

Can a coil that acts up when warm be tested cold? Or would i need to test while using a heat gun to heat the coil up? I will replace points too. I posted pics of my messed up ignition parts, any comments welcome!

Ok, i'll start with cleaning it, setting the gap, and replacing the condenser.

Sounds a lot cheaper, thanks Dave!

I've probably posted three of the four attached pictures on previous threads, but wanted to show you my spark test device for the old magnetos.
The other (3) pictures show how I clean & polish the points.
Just remember,...If you can't get a nice blue spark by flicking the drive splines with your hand, the magneto probably won't allow a good low idle speed. The test tool is more for checking consistence & determining if the coil is leaking to ground.

Take four old spark plugs and grind the side electrodes off them. The mag should fire all the modified plugs with ease with and a loud spark snap. If not get in there and set it up again as something ain't right.
