I have a 1984 Merc 150 and the control box is making a constant beep for the first time ever. to tell the truth we did just do a complete remodel. we did not take the box apart, but the wires leading to the switch panel may be mixed up. I mix my gas so it couldn't be low oil. this is the first time in this year. we are still dry. it started right up.

We found the problem. There was a little speaker that was beeping in the control box. We unhooked it. That solved the problem.

That is what you are saying, but what happens now should the motor overheat ?
I believe you need to look further to solve the real problem.----You are now operating an expensive motor with no warning buzzer for overheat condition.
