TOPIC: mercury 500 motor service manual

I just purchased a fifty horse mercury that is white with black cowling. the serial number is 1556189 . It has a electric start and a manual one too. Must have points as it has a distributor model 4D 4262 and a small belt under the fly wheel. I have the plug connector that goes on the side. but not sure where all the wires go to ? I also have a couple of quick silver shifters but not sure if there left handed or can be converted. I'm looking for a service manual for this motor or is this motor not worth getting running. I only paid $100 for the old boat and motor so I'm not out much. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks
