On my 17 foot MFG. Has a Merc 1000 on it presently.

I was thinking it'd be nice to have something small to get home if there is a problem on the lake or sound.

New electric trolling motor? Are there vintage electric trolling motors? Or look for a small gas 68 merc?

good merc 3.9 6 7.5 or 9.8 60's are my choices especially on the sound and big lakes with adapter you can use you regular tank. batteries dont last long with electric trolling motors.

Makes sense. It'll look a lot better beside the 1000 too.

Now if I can just find a 9.8...

I'm in York pa. 40 minutes south of Harrisburg.

Is there much difference between a 9.8 and a 6 when it comes to moving a 17 foot boat. About 1500 lb with everyone and gear.
