TOPIC: MFG year from serial number

I have a 12' Cartop Fisherman but do not know the year of manufacture. Can the year be determined from the serial number?
The serial number of my boat is 8484.
From looking at all the sales brochures on this site, I believe the year to be maybe 1966 thru 1968.

There is no way to tell the year from the MFG serial number. The numbers do seem to get assigned across all lines of boats, maybe in batches of numbers. My 1966 MFG Niagara has a serial number of 7690, so 1967 or so sounds about right for your boat. As those boats are smaller than what is normally titled in most states, there is likely no title history.

Your are on the right track by looking at sales brochures. I use them all the time to try to figure out the year of an MFG.
