My wife and I found this 1964 Sea Cruiser that has been sitting for about five years. The owner could no longer use it so we talked him into selling us the boat. We are in love with the style. We named the boat after the original owner,(Play it Again Sam)in honor of him. He loved his boat, so he sent it to a good home. The boat is in very good condition, after all it is 50 years old. We cant Waite for spring to try her out. There are pictures on Goggle 1964 Sea Cruiser

Welcome aboard, My son is redoing a 64 Sea Cruiser. They are nice boats. Canal W. So where do you boat? Grand lake, the river, or the Portage Lakes, float Happy

We boat and fish inland lakes around central Ohio. Has he experienced foam saturation on his boat? I have found it. Will this need to be replaced?

Paul is getting ready to pull the transom. As heavy as the hull is I believe we will find the foam is saturated on his boat as well. What's nice is that the fiberglass stringers are nice and wide like on the Glasspars of that vintage. have you opened your floor? I am wondering if the floor is encapsulated plywood or a manufactured RFP sheet. It appears that they did both by what I have read. We will find out. If we find the foam saturated we will likely remove it. I am not a big fan of foam as I have done two Larson/Glasspars that had saturated foam. If MFG put the foam in like the sales lit shows then removing won't be too bad. Of course if it is dry I am prone to leave it alone.

My boat is shrink wrapped up for the winter. After I brought the boat home, I removed two screws from near the bottom of the transom. They were holding an old depth finder on that was no longer being used. The boat never stopped weeping water from those holes. I have not had a chance to look under the floor, but I am sure to find foam saturation. I am not sure what to do with it. Do replace the foam with something else, like Sea cast? I removed one of the fuel tanks that was leaking. It had rusted out form the foam saturation. Is Paul going to restore his boat to original?

I am sure we to will find foam saturation. They are considering original with a gel coat color change. Currently their boat is White and Blue like the 64 sales catalog. They had an Orange that year that looks really good. His wife really likes the orange. I am thinking of removing the last foot and a half of the floor when we redo the transom and try a drain snake to inch in and pull back the foam. If taken slow enough it may be successful.

I have been unable to find many picks of the 1964 sea cruiser. Do have one in Orange? Mine is blue, so I will probably lean it blue.

Do you have a picture of one in orange? Mine is blue, I will probably keep it blue. I can't find many pictures of a 1964 Sea Cruiser. I am thinking about building a couple of new fuel tanks so I can use the side filler caps. The tanks were rusted out, and not being used.
I have been watching this guy on U-tube that has removed foam, rebuilt the stringers and re foamed under the floor. doesn't look that bad, just a lot of prep. I am planning on installing a watertight floor, so when I need to clean the floor I can just hose it out.
I hope I can figure out how to post some pictures, I can share my experience of my first renovation. I know that I will miss out on another season of fishing, but I know I can enjoy it for many years after.
