Seems hardly a week goes by when I don't get up in the morning only to find something on the kitchen counter from the admiral that mysteriously broke over night. Cups, nick knacks, etc. Saw a commercial on the boob tube for the "five second fix" glue. Looked acceptable so I ordered some from ebay. The stuff I got is called "rapid fix" It's a liquid plastic, shine a UV light on it and it turns hard. Anyhoo it came in the mail yesterday so I went about gluing everything I could find, the stuff seems to work good, even on plastic parts. I filled a few cracks in a cup handle with it and you can sand the stuff flush. Was thinking this might be a good fix for some of those nasty gouges from dock bumping or anchor scraping. Don't know if it's safe for marine use but for now if you have a 'cosmetic defect' (good phrase)it might be worth a try.
Two years ago I had a chipped tooth and my dentist used something similar to build up the broken area, layered the stuff, uv lighted it and repeated until the chip was filled, then polished/shaped it. He said it's a new area for him and didn't know how it would hold up but so far I haven't had any problems and it never broke off the tooth.
Stuff ain't cheap though but comes shipped with a UV flashlight, kinda cool toy to play with also
