I magnified the picture and they both appear long shaft to me. I have a short shaft it looks different...motor mounts on my short shaft looked more tucked up and bottom of motor mount is cast shorter in the middle...kind of tucked above by the shock mounts.

The visible difference between a short shaft 650-4, 800-4, 850-4, and inline-6 Mercs is that the short shaft models have the bottom end of the shock absorber mounts dropped lower than the lower end of the steering rod, as seen in the attached picture.
The long shaft models swivel housing for bottom end of the shock absorber mounts goes straight across to the other side rather that going up in the middle like the short shaft.

This is not the case with the smaller 50 & 45 HP 4 cylinder Mercs.
I can post more pictures if this explanation is not clear enough.

Thank you Dr. for more clearly showing what I was trying to figure out how to say (without really knowing all of the technical terms). Your picture is worth a thousand words. I also very much like looking at that sweet rig! That 2 blade looks nice and also looks like a fairly hefty pitch...may I ask what inch pitch?
