This one has been up for sale for along time. Price is up and down on it also.

I'm no where near an expert on Fiberglassics. The Garforms that I have seen either preserved or restored just capture my attention. I don't know if a melding of fiberglass hulls with bright work top sides ever happened but IMO that would have been the logical progression the Garfield's may have opted toward.

I got plenty of "rollers in the fiberglass" and lord knows I don't need another project to get to someday.

I ran the block casting numbers as provided in sellers photos and this is a late 283 CI 1961 car and corvette block.

what do you know, the old boy did have his hands in the garform line. Garfield A Wood has been a hero of mine for a number of years. The day he walked into the Chris Craft showroom history was in the making. he and Jay Smith (Christopher Smiths son) took the Harmsworth trophy home to michigan in 1920 or 21, with their boat Miss America IV? Garwood incorporated a bow rudder, and while unloading from the ship all the locals made fun of the bow rudder. Jay and Gar smoked them in the straits, smoked them in the turns and took the their trophy right out from under them and brought it back to Algonac. The following year the britts incorparted the bow rudder on their boats.

Well I've spoken with the seller and the boat is unclaimed abandoned property on his land. I'm strongly considering taking a look at it if only for my own "historical curiosity". Through the years it's seem to have suffered from some cannbilzation. The seller has limited mobility and hasn't been able to actually check it to much himself. He's been told though that's its worth a lot of money. We all know how that goes don't we : )

Seller did have a prospect tell him it was of 1949 vintage. Obviously it was remotored after 1960 as the block casting number indicates that it has a 1961 283 CI Chevy V8.

lol, someone should inform him that it "could be" worth a ton of money, after dumping a ton of money into her. offer him 400 bucks cash for it and see if he bites. If it were closer to me, I'd already have her in my shed. ;)

Funny thing, I kept seeing this posting, and initially the boat's pic really didn't do a whole lot for me. This morning, I just hit the craigslist link, and wouldn't you know it, its in my backyard. I just sent the owner an email thru craigslist to get the address. Based on the location description, it is probably within 1-2 miles of my house. If anyone would like certain details, please email me and I will see what I can do for you.
Regards,
StevieB

Hey StevieB, I think your email is turned off? As previously mention, my interests would be in "historical curiosity". It's about 2 hours from me but I may try the seller (again) to make a appointment to check it out. Who knows I may even bite the bullet ($$$$)

TrailCat,
If you want, email me and I would be glad to meet you there to perform a close-up review. Four eyes are better than two. I am not interested in purchasing it, but I would be glad to help anyone take a close look, if they desire.
Regards,
StevieB

Hey Folks - I've had a chance to check out the Garform. If you're serious about adding a GarForm to your personal fleet, shoot me an email and I'll try to answer any questions you may have about the boat. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the high, she's a 3 at best IMO but it is a GarForm.
