TOPIC: OMC Stringer 400 steering removal?

Hello everyone! I have been having a bit of trouble removing my steering cable from my boat. If anyone could give me some advice on how to remoe it, would be greatly appreciated. - Lucas

So far I took the plate off, now it is just dangling in place. There a way to remove the cable from the Ball or is it upfront under the steering wheel? I am stumped and tried google many times.

Your steering cable should separate from the helm (steering gearbox), and allow you to slide it out the hole in the transom. If you'll shoot a pic of the back side of the helm maybe one of us can walk you thru the procedure.
