TOPIC: Prop size

Prop size 13 years 3 months ago #42868

I finally got my NTM Larson Citation 5500 on the lake. Perhaps you saw the picture of it in the trailer section. I'm wondering if the new prop I put on it is the proper size or pitch. It has a Mercruiser 140 sterndrive. The prop is 14" X 23pitch. WOT is 4200 RPM and speed is 44mph. However, when I start from idle and give it the gas, it bogs down at 2000rpm for about 2 seconds before it gets its ponies running. Is this a prop problem or a carb problem? Other than the hesitation, it runs great. Also, I am still getting use to the affect the trim has on steering. It really pulls to the left or right until I get the trim right. It sure isn't like my old outboard!

Drop down to a 21P prop. That motor should run 4600 RPM at WOT.
