TOPIC: Champion Boats

Champion Boats 14 years 5 months ago #10390

I've been waiting to post on this site till I got my second Champion boat. This isn't the bass boat type but a 1966 17' speed boat with a Holman Moody inboard and volvo outdrive. Why would I want two? Well, because of the parts for one when getting into vintage boats and two because my first one seems so sweet.

This is an all glass boat that has nice lines and turns heads. It compares in looks to Donzi's and Thunderbirds of the era, but has a domed type engine cover. Even for a 17' boat, it is heavy and in the water it rides smooth like a Caddy.

All of my research has turned up nothing and I was hoping someone could help me with some kind of history or knowledge of this boat.

I'll try to post more pic's later, in the meantime thanks in advance

Had one back in the early 70's. Yes, it is a sweet ride. The engine was usually a Ford 289 v8 with a 780CFM Holley carb. Volvo Penta outdrive. I have seen them with a 454 and Jacuzzi water jet in a black and white colors. I have also seen a red and white.

Please post more pics!
