TOPIC: Is this really a 1971 rebel?

Is this really a 1971 rebel? 9 years 8 months ago #107405

I recently bought this boat but can not find any info about it anywhere! I was told it's a 1971 Rebel 14ft long.
I have done many Google searches and came up with no results that look like my boat.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

It looks like a Slickcraft SS150.

I agree the lines are the same but my boat is designed for an outboard motor. It does look like someone changed the windscreen on my boat too.

Slickcrafts under 16' are all outboard. The square windshield and hull stripe scream Slickcraft, built in Holland, Michigan 20 miles from my house.

If the max hp is not stamped on the data plate, I would say that 50 to 70hp would be ideal.

Thank you. This is my first boat, I've always wanted a boat and I saw this one on local classifieds for 400$ boat,
Trailer, engine and a bunch of boating/fishing gear. Seemed just too good of deal to pass up the older guy was moving to
A smaller house and had to get rid of his "toys". I've looked at the transom, hull and floor they are all solid with no cracks.
Is there anything else I should check out? Thanks again in advance. Oh and the boat also has new wiring, fuse box and
Gauges.

The seats are obviously not original, check carefully for quality of construction if you decide to keep them. I am not sure, but the engine looks like a 28hp, enough to push the boat, no skiing and not very fast. Any plans for more hp?

Yeah I am thinking about a 1972 65hp Johnson that's in the local classifieds and getting some different more comfortable seats. Just not sure if that's too much engine for the boat, it being 43 years old I don't think I should push it too hard.

IMHO 65HP would be very acceptable on your boat, assuming it's a 20" shaft motor.

I always recommend getting the highest hp allowed. 65 would be ideal. You may not need it, but its there if a tube or skis find their way behind you. Make sure to use a transom saver when trailering.
