TOPIC: Tahiti16

Tahiti16 8 years 2 months ago #127542

Had this for 3 -4 years now. In that time, I've replaced the starter, new trim motor, new Rams, rebuilt the leg, replaced the heat exchanger, pulled down the top end, replaned the head, inspected the exhaust manifold and generally cleaned and painted it it all up. This is a 1979 Tahiti (sidewinder, cobra) with a 170 hp 470 mercruiser inboard. Goes like stink.

Yes, that should be a very fast boat, as light as it is.

Had that 470 in a 17' Cruisers Rally. That was also a goer. Strong engine if maintained well. Some people have trouble with the alternator being inside the pulley assembly.
