THe 1st one may be iffy with a 150 on it.Transom can be beefed up, but how skitterish will that hull be at 55mph?
2nd one is a cool looking ride that will have no problem with a 150,has the 135 on it now which is basically the same as the 150.
3rd one not sure what it is,has that slickcraft/switzer/chrylser look.Call them up and ask.The big tower would go well with either #2 or#3

Is it because hull designs that makes all the difference?
i'm trying to understand why these small 14' boats I see with the 150's or even 200hp (hydrostream) motors on the back how they do it?

I figured a boat such a the Glasspar with a nice V bottom hull wouldn't have much problem with a 150 on the back?

Is it all about the wide platform hull designs?

i like the design of #3 looks similar to the GT's ...#1 I think from what pic shows would be a good contender...I have an 85hp that i could use too...but really wanting to mount up that 150 and get it tuned in.....

It is because of three things. One, the hull design. The Hydrostreams, Allisons, etc. are high speed designs with pad (flat keel pad) bottoms. Transoms are likely reinforced by the owners with knee braces to hold the extra weight safely. Second, setup. Dual cable steering, setback plates (jackplates), center steering (on the overkill boats) and many other tricks are needed to be able to run over 80 without danger. Third, a slightly "touched" driver who thought of driving a 14 footer with 200hp, when there are longer, safer, and faster designs out there that go as fast, or faster with the same power. These people will say they get no "challenge" from driving the longer boats.

MATT: My vote of the three would be for # 3 . Could sell off the 75hp & get most of your money out of the package. Then your bigger mota. #2 Carlson MAY be only the 14 ft Contender model ,, Over 115 is lot of weight , power for hull . Some where I saw the 16 ft CHALLENGER for sale last week , That would take a bigger mota.

Plan "C" i saw West of Nashville guy (Small dealer) selling hull only , Glastron 16 1/2 ft CVX, $650, This would take bigger mota , have $$ value going forward. . IMO I love Glasspar & always looking . Mid 60's Super G 16 ft is the model you need.

thank you all for the feed back...i am absorbing it as you put it and will help me make a decision. I have a 85 & 150 that i would love to mount on a boat, but would like to find something that I could run a 150 on...

today while surfing I found a 15' trihull very similar to mine...mine is rated for 100hp...this one had a 115 on the back...i bet that thing would skip aross the lakes...and turn heads all in one!

anyway as stated above open to all suggestions and absorbing the info...

thank you

ps: #3 rated for 90... unsure year of boat though..model 600 glastron?

Put the 85 on #1, the 150 on #2, get that 135 running good and put it on #3. #3 kinda looks like a 1970's Starcraft American, or knockoff.

The #3 boat ends up being a Glassmaster Super Sport.
16' but I blieve if I red the info correctly it measures out to almost 17'.
Only rated for 95hp...was told transom and floor was solid.
It is a V-hull but unsure what it looks like thinking it has a stable wide platform...but won;t know until I go look...

there was a fatal boat accident somewhere around pittsburg,pa,during the 4th weekend, the fellow had a brand new tunnel hull, ciggerette type boat, they have video on the news of him going very fast im not kidding when i say the rooster tail was about 200 feet long,i cant even imagine how huge the motor was,he rolled it with his sister and 2 of her kids in it,they at least made it ok,but they still havent found him yet, john

That bottom boat looks similiar to this one.
This is a Sunset Boat Co. hull. 15'7". 135 Merc. No t/t.
You may have seen the post here about this boat. I pretty much fell into it.
It ran 64 on GPS with a 21 aluminum prop. Kooky!
The guys here stated it is a Sidewinder clone. Looks very similiar.
It has a solid transom and floor and handles very well.
Kudos to you for thinking about safety at all times with passengers.
I truly hope all that reads here adhere to this. Most boating accidents can be avoided with common sense.
So you know now what my vote would be to bolt the 150 to. ;)

still on the boat hunt....
I have decided that I am going to go and look at the '77 Glasspar sounds like its a nice boat in good shape for the year.

the other one I put on the Glassmaster? if the Glasspar don't work out, I may stop and look at the Glassmaster on my way up to Chetek or way home if they still have...

Which I could fall into a deal like Neil finds..dang it!
