I found this website in hopes of getting some info on Lazer mini speedboats made in the 70's. All I know is they built a open and closed bow model in this 12 foot or so length. I also know they put some pretty high horsepower motors on them. Are there any details peculiar to these models I should look for when purchasing one of these boat? Other than the obvious structural stuff, dry rot, cracks, delaminating, etc. they remind me of atwo seater sports car.

Are they a collectible? My purpose is pleasure boating on a calm day. I consider it as an alternative to a PWC. I also think it would be small enough for my first boat restoration that I could store and move it around easily. I've restored cars, motorcycles and snowmobiles before and have the ability but never did a boat before.

I'd hate to put a lot of time and effort into something that I wouldn't be able to sell when the time came. I do it mostly for fun and the satisfaction of bringing something back to running condition so I don't consider hours in my cost equation. I'd hate to polish a turd too. Hopefully some of you folks with more experience can enlighten me.
