Ran across a '71 Rayson while on vacation...

16' back to back bench seat...1250 MErc w/ T&T....

anyone know or heard of them? very sleek looking boat steering is on portside of the boat?

don;t think I can talk myself into ot but wondering if anyone out here has any info or perhaps has owned one?

what were the main purpose of these boats?
there was a lil fin on the underside of the hull?
the exterior seemed in good shape..

racing

turning fin. It keeps the boat from sliding in the turns. Though with it mid hull it was most likely to keep it running straight and true.

They look like they could be allot of fun.

need to find some info....on them I guess ..
how did that fin turn? just from pressure of the water?

not sure if it would be the "family" but probably could have a blast tubing behind it...

its not that the fin turns... at high speed boats like to "slide" when they turn. The fin helps to "plant" the boat in the turn.

Raysoncraft were mostly (?..all I ever saw anyway)Flatbottoms, and flattys simple will not turn without them. They are way more performance boats, than "family", and the flat bottom will beat ya silly in rough water. My Flatty is similar, and heres a pic the twin fins. DAMN that puppy will turn!

Jetboat you got that right. Remind me of the ones we use to see on Higgins and Houghton Lake in Michigan. quite a few jetdrive boats with V-8's too!

ok... so it could be a gofast riverster. I actually prefer rivers, usually no speed limits.

Your off the rock river right? Perfect river for shallow boats, no barge traffic.

its a nice location not too busy ... can either go up the river toward Spring Valley or downward and goto Henery, Chilicothe on ward to Peoria...going down there are places along the route on can dock into and grab a bite to eat...
