Well, It's time for paint. However, the weather says no. It's about as smooth as it's going to get for the scope and price range of this project.
I just need to tape the instruments, drive and protect the trailer and it's time to set up the tent and shoot. It's 37F here and now the tape does not want to stick so I am hoping for warmer and dryer soon. Maybe we will see some upper 60's next week.

Wow! Sho is shiny. Nice job. Looks great!

Pardon my ignorance but an 'SRV' is a SeaRay, correct?

Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about! Nice job Heather, I think you'll have another satisfied customer there. Does that 2part Poly come in metallic colors too? (I know you're busy, no rush.) I may be old, but I still like a little "sparkle". ;)

Hey mark No I don't think they do. But then again, they just may not carry them at the store I use.

Well the owner came by today and was very very happy. I guess it's all back up from here. We started to put the rub rails back on. I painted these with a metallic silver. They were just to beat up to put back on as they were. I ground them with the grinder to get all the deep gouges fared out then smoothed them with the Fien Multi-master. Sprayed some acrylic enamel and Vala!

Looks great! Nice job. Like the idea of painting the trashed rub rail. Wonder how it'll hold up against dock rash. Probably best not to find out I suppose. I actually had a '71 15'7" SeaRay long time ago. Sadly that one ended up under the sawsall.

Again very nice work!

OK, As for painting the rail.... You can paint it and get away with it if you paint it a silver. The original SeaRay rails were painted.... It's all about contrast if gouged, chipped or scratched.

Refurbished the rubber insert and polished some of the brass snaps and hardware. There is not much left to do but screwdriver work and this one is done.

Heather, the boat looks great, and I know from your other projects the interior will be just as beautiful! Sure makes that trailer look bad, is the customer doing anything with that?

Yes, next off season we will do a emerald bottom paint and when I have the boat on the lift, I will do the trailer for him.

What it is, He keeps the boat at a marina so they lift it in and out for him. He doesn't use the trailer at all. I think this was the first time it's been used in 10 years.

Is there no end to the list of your talents?! That black walnut will look great against the white. Did you do the two pieces on the bow too, or were they original?

I see in your pic you have some stock left on the black walnut. If you would be so kind as to PM your shipping address to me, I'd like to send you a sample of the bow cleats for my 73 Starflite. The previous owner removed them to mount a trolling motor there, and I'd like to put it back original. Problem is, he only saved two of the three pieces, and they're in dire need of refinishing anyway.

Owwww it's well. Got the Seat bases and Engine box finished today. They are gone to the Upholsterer. The Swim Platform got mounted. Long day.... That engine box was some master carpenter compound cuts.

Well it's not long now, carpet is in and per this photos is done now,
,, Maybe a post or 2 more from upholstery and a finishing photo and this one is gone.

We have had so much fun, stress and excitement on this one. The owner is a great guy with a sense of humor for sure.

I say in all sincerity, I am going to hate to see this one go.
It's been a blast.

Not to drag out a fast finish, but give your broswer time to load all the pix... I sent up many tonight.....

Here are the works of today. Lots of new stuff coming back from Upholstery.
A pin stripe and a rebuilt out drive...

Some of this looks more blue than it really is. I think it's the flash. I have a cheep 8 year old $80 camera from Wal-Mart back in the day. But carpet is done and you can see the new wood of the new boxes. Another load of Upholstery comes in tomorrow....

I may get to go out on one of my own boats this weekend. Would that be cool or what?

For the last 4 months you have been watching the show quality restoration of a 1971 SeaRay SRV-190 come together.
Today, I give you the last and final chapter in this saga.

To my surprise I was asked to come aboard for a ride by the owner and his family. What a nice boat it turned out to be.
