TOPIC: Please help with 70's Enterprise Boat Co. Model

Please help with 70's Enterprise Boat Co. Model 13 years 1 week ago #52235

Greetings all,

I am new to the forum, please bare with my questions.. I purchased a 70's fiberglass cab forward 17' boat by Enterprise Boat Company that has seats back to back in the front, with rear seats on either side of the 150 Johnson v6 Seahorse outboard engine. The boat will work well for fishing due to the large open area behind the cab area. I plan to add a kicker motor to allow trolling. I have no idea what model this boat is or anything about it, I did a search for any info, but there doesn't seem to be any. The cab forward makes the boat some what odd looking, so my guess this model wasn't very popular! I have seen these hulls in inboard/outboard, and outboard. Thank you! mgcrumster

Check out the US Coast Guard information on the company. Appears to have started in 1976 and closed in 1992: www.uscgboating.org/recalls/mic_detail.aspx?id=ENT

Greetings thompsonboat,

Thank you for the info provided, that does help... It's to bad there aren't any photo's or model names. I'm sure there is some one out there that has info! The boat is a odd design, and I'm guessing no one wants to admit to owning one!! ;). I will try to post a few photo's soon, some one has to own one of these odd ducks!

Thanks again...... crumster

Welcome aboard. Are you on the left coast Crumster? Found a listing in Rancho Cordova, CA, might have been the HQ?

Some pics would certainly help the brain truss here with the ID process.... ;)

Greetings MarkS,

Thanks for the greeting, I'm from Clovis Ca. a stones throw form Fresno, which is in the middle of the state. We have quite a few lakes near by. I will post a few pictures of the boat ASAP, thanks for your reply, and help!

I have been online searching for a particular Enterprise Boat and saw your posting. My family owned Enterprise Boat Company (in Rancho Cordova, CA) and my father designed all the boats. Our nick name for the one you have was the Frog. (See picture below) Model #17FR, I believe. Not my favorite in the looks department but my father loved it's practicality. It was actually quite popular with both fisherman and skiers. I believe it's in the brochure I saved. I'll try to upload some information for you.

Cool!

If you can scan and post the brochure, it can be added to the Library section.

Larson Boat of Little Falls, MN had a similar looking model.

It appears my scan is too big and won't upload. I'll try just sending pieces of it.

Sorry, but it seems everything I try to upload is too big. If you know a way to do this, let me know. Thanks.

There is a thread in the support section to help with re-sizing the pics, here's a link to it;
www.fiberglassics.com/glassic-forums/7-support/22256-how-to-post-pictures.html
Then you can post them in the "Library Additions" section on the forum, and the staff will pick them up from there and load them into the library. Thanks in advance for your contribution(s)!

I'm actually searching for a 18lVIO (pictured bottom left on the cover). If you see any around, I would appreciate you letting me know. My father passed away a few years ago and I'm on a quest to get one of these. Thank you.

I have a Model E16 FROB. On the hull plate it states that max Recommended Hp is 140, 8 People at 150lbs or 1600 lbs of people, motor, and gear. This is closer to the E17 FROB. When I measure the Centerline length it comes out to be 16'-10". Could this boat have the wrong plate or some odd combination? I found a picture of an E17 FROB and it has much more squared off edges than my boat. What do you think? Any help would be very welcome. Thank you.

Sorry. It's been a while since I've logged on here and I'm not sure if I ever responded to this. I sent your message, along with another, to my brother. He's the expert since our father passed away. I'll let you know if he has any input.

Re:Please help with 70's Enterprise Boat Co. Model 11 years 3 weeks ago #86789

I am new to this forum, and I wanted to ask if anyone could identify this model of boat. I am looking at it to restore, as I just sold my 2003 Alumawld boat because it was so expensive to use only a couple of times a year. I have been looking for an inexpensive replacement for it for fishing and I really want a 20ft boat at least. This one looks like it has the basics I need to start with. The guy says it runs but it is rough inside. I will need to spend a couple of thousand outfitting it. He wants $1500 as is. Any one knows if it would be worthwhile to fix up?

Thanks for any response.
